Hi,

Unfortunately I deleted my alias data set, that is GNANAS.

So, I lost all my data sets.

When I give GNANAS.* in 3.4, I am not seeing any data sets.

I got the below error while creating data set again.
Code: Select all
IKJ56893I DATA SET GNANAS.COBOL.SOURCE NOT ALLOCATED+
IGD17102I CATALOG ERROR IN DEFINING NONVSAM DATA SET
GNANAS.COBOL.SOURCE
RETURN CODE IS 56 REASON CODE IS 6 IGG0CLFT
IGD306I UNEXPECTED ERROR DURING IGG0CLFT PROCESSING
RETURN CODE 56 REASON CODE 6
THE MODULE THAT DETECTED THE ERROR IS IGDVTSCU
SMS MODULE TRACE BACK - VTSCU VTSCT VTSCR SSIRT
SYMPTOM RECORD CREATED, PROBLEM ID IS IGD00048
***

Please help me to resolve this issue. Thanks!

Your datasets have been recovered. Remember never delete your userid ALIAS!

Hi Sysprog,

Just by curiosity am asking,

When you said " your datasets has been recovered" does this mean you recovered them from the backup you had? or you created an Alias for his ID?

Am thinking , when he used 3.4 and GNANAS.* , he didn't find any of his datasets because there is no alias defined to his ID, not because the data got deleted physically.

If he knows the volume name where his datasets are on, he will be able to browse his datasets even if he deletes his Alias..

Please correct if wrong.

Thanks
Rakesh

The datasets still existed on the system. We just re-defined the ALIAS for this userid, with correct user catalog.

If there is no ALIAS redefined, these datasets were not accessible or readable because they are managed by SMS and were not in the catalog.
