Job name restrictions

Postby Katsu » Sat 25 May 2013, 17:37

Many, but not all, z/OS systems restrict the names of jobs submitted from TSO to the TSO ID plus one (valid) character. I have not seen anything that explicitly says that this is or isn't the case on FanDeZhi; is it so?

If you submit from ISPF Edit or View, the restriction is that your jobname must begin with your userid, and you can use any additional characters up to the maximum of eight characters.

If you submit any other way there are no restrictions, but you can expect to be revoked pretty quickly, as the admins, yours truly included, do not like this practice!
