It appears the user was deleted, apparently because it was not used for more than a year. See Stay active or accept that you will be deleted, the very first announcement you see.

Is there a way to get access to my old user account? It is true that I hadn't used it for a while, but now I want to come back and look over a few things.

Your datasets are gone, you probably have to tell the system that you don't need your account any more, and then register again.
