When you request a userid, you are requested to provide a programmer name. The admins are banning IDs that do not have a reasonably valid programmer name. Programmer names like "MAINFRAME FAN", "TEST3270" or "ANUPT" are not valid.

And neither are Tom Cruise, James Bond and the like. We want to see a name in the format Firstname Lastname, or Initial(s) Lastname. Anything else will be kicked off pretty fast - old users need not worry, you will not be affected by this rule!

To use my name as an example, "S MYERS" probably would be banned, "STEVE M" would be banned.

The admins realize some transliterations of Asian names exceed the 20 characters allowed in the field as is true of some Welsh names. Do the best you can. I don't know why 20 characters was defined 40+ years ago. At a guess it might have left over space in a control block called the JCT. This is not the HASP/JES2 control block also called a JCT, it's another JCT, though it serves a similar purpose.

Userids with a "programmer name" that appears to be an E-mail address or Facebook ID will also be banned. These "programmer names" are sometimes inserted into jobs that most users can see, so it would not be a good idea to use it.

Just a reminder. Most IDs that have been banned recently are being banned because proper programmer names are not being provided. The admins do not regard JULIANBIGGIO as valid, as is true of KHALID, MRRADIO, VICTOR, TAOUDI and CHRIS - a sampling of names recently provided. The only good news, if you call it good, is very few IDs haven banned for repeated security violations recently.
