New notice

Postby steve-myers » Fri 12 Sep 2014, 03:18

The admins have added this notice to the logon notices you probably do not bother to read.

Code: Select all
+-------------------------- Your name --------------------------+

If this is the first time you log on, and on the "Apply NEW
TSO Userid" web page you have not put in a real name in the
"Your Name" box, you should NOW go to and delete it @

<http://www.efglobe.com/cgi-bin/mainframe/mainuser?F=REMOVE>

and then reapply again, but this time with your real name in
"Firstname Lastname" format, or a meaningful abbreviation of
it. The admins will allow (2014-08-27) any more users on the
system that do not provide a real name! Tom Cruise, James
Bond, Mainframe Lover, are not acceptable, and neither are
email addresses.

THIS POLICY WILL NOT BE APPLIED RETROSPECTIVELY, SO EXISTING
USERS WILL NOT BE AFFECTED AND DO NOT NEED TO WORRY!
+---------------------------------------------------------------+

Prino probably does not know this - I certainly did not, but you can change your programmer name in TSO using the ALTUSER command.

ALTUSER your-userid NAME('YOUR NAME')

Don't try to change your buddy's programmer name. It won't work and the admins will probably use it as an excuse to disable your userid.

I definitely didn't know this, but now that I know, I will change the logon exec to only show the message if users have an "unacceptable" programmer name.

I''ll try to do it later today, but I can't promise anything.
