First of all, you apply for a userid at http://www.efglobe.com/cgi-bin/mainframe/mainuser and wait for the email to confirm that one has been created, which may take a couple of days, so be patient!

Once you have your userid, get a terminal emulator, point it to "fandezhi.efglobe.com" and select TSO.

You can now create your own COBOL library (there will already be a "userid'.JCL.CNTL library with an example jobcard), write your programs and run them. For the procedures to do so, see http://zos.efglobe.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9.

One warning, do not use any of the IGYxxxG procedures before your program compiles without errors, we've had programs on the system that ended up in loops for many hours due to the programmer not checking the compiler messages!

There may be free ones, but I use Tom Brennan's Vista, which is a snip at USD 30.
