i want to practice DB2 and cobol.... how can i connect to the server or do i have to download sth...??

Step one, if you haven't already done so, is to apply for a userid here. Once you get it, you need to get a 3270 client, I personally use Tom Brennan's Vista tn3270, which is not free, but you can get several free programs, the most well known of them is x3270, which is not the epitome of user-friendliness, but it seems to run more or less out of the box, you need to connect to fandezhi.efglobe.com

Once you're there, select TSO, allocate your libraries and read the FAQ forum here to get started.
