3270 emulator keys with laptop

Postby rsilver » Tue 08 May 2012, 22:02

At home I have a external keyboard with usb plugged into laptop and the 3270 keys work fine. Trying to use the laptop without external keyboard and the PF keys on 3270 emulator is not working. Do I have to map all the keys on the laptop to the 3270 emulator or is there something I can set in Windows 7 to reconize the 3270 emulator keys ?

Thanks,
Rick

I am mostly using a Win 7 laptop and QWS3270, and I can't say I've noticed anything unusual about the keys.

As an experiment I also have tried the WC3270 emulator, again with nothing particularly unusual about the common keys, though I haven't figured out how to use the right Ctrl key as the Enter key, which was rather easy to do with QWS3270.

WC3270:
in Documenta and Settings\user\Application Data\wc3270\tso.wc3270km

RightCtrl<Key>CTRL: ENTER
<Key>Enter: Newline

in my shortcut's Target field:
"C:\Program Files\wc3270\wc3270.exe" +S "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\wc3270\tso.wc3270" -keymap tso -xrm "wc3270.menuBar:false"

The '-xrm "wc3270.menuBar:false' gets rid of the wc3270 menu bar when logged on.

That is for Win XP - don't know what you need to change for Win 7 but the data stays the same.

Hi Rick,
Your Problem is Simple to resolve(I hope its not a problem at all)....
In laptop, function keys work in primary and secondary modes....

In primary mode Direct pressing of Function keys will work.....
In Secondary mode Fn(can be found besides left cntrl key) +Function key will work.....

You can Switch the modes in BIOS settings of your Lappy....

Thanks & Regards,
BALA.
