The issue of "ISP" syntax errors preventing proper dataset preallocations for use of ISPF/PDF has recurred several times over the last few weeks. Incorrect coding of conditional tests against specific character values seems to be the cause.

If it is feasible, I recommend that specific character values to be tested against under "ISP" be placed in an ISPF table, preferably under a KEY variable. "ISP" could then search the table for its source value to see if it exists in the table, then if it does, take whatever action necessary. This would eliminate the need to code individual tests against the specific character values and thereby eliminate the repeated syntax errors that hinder necessary dataset preallocations for ISPF/PDF. Any new character strings to be tested would be added to the table.

Thank you

I've recreated your profile dataset, you should be OK now.

No userids that start with TSO are permitted to use the system.

Oops, completely missed that. :oops: (But that raises the question: "How did Georg get on?" to get the messages he got..._

Hi,
I'm sorry for disturbing you, but i have still a problem:

1) Enter your choice==> TSO
2) IKJ56700A ENTER USERID -
TSO1112
------------------------------- TSO/E LOGON --------------
IKJ56420I Userid TSO1112 not authorized to use TSO
Enter LOGON parameters below:
*Userid ===> TSO1112

I’v now read the rules, but i am none the wiser (what i do wrong).
Thanks
Georg

We do not allow any userids starting with TSO onto the system. You will have to apply for something different. And, for what it's worth, userids starting with 'USER' or 'IBM' are also no-no's!
